Turmeric works by blocking prostaglandins, compounds that cause inflammation. In addition, turmeric may prevent cancer cells from spreading throughout the body.

2) Prevents heart disease

 Drinking turmeric tea daily may decrease the risk of heart disease, according to a study published in the journal Nutrition Research. Researchers studied nearly 1,000 participants who were between ages 30 and 65 years old. Each participant drank eight cups of turmeric tea over four weeks. 

Then researchers tested their blood samples to determine if oxidative stress had decreased. Oxidative stress occurs when free radicals attack our bodies’ DNA – leading to potential health problems like cancer and heart disease.

3) Helps fight infections

 According to a study published in Current Medicinal Chemistry, adding turmeric to broth cultures helped inhibit the spread of pathogens that cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and bacterial meningitis. To make turmeric tea, add two teaspoons of dried ground turmeric to boiling water. Let steep for 10 minutes before drinking.

4) Relieves anxiety

 Research from the Journal of Ethnopharmacology suggests that curcumin may have anxiolytic effects. The active ingredient in turmeric, curcumin has been shown to block brain chemicals associated with anxiety. One recent study showed that taking 500 milligrams of curcumin three times a day reduced symptoms of anxiety significantly faster than placebo.

5) Keeps skin looking young

 Aging skin can look dull and wrinkled without regular treatments. Daily use of turmeric reduces wrinkles caused by sun damage, according to a 2016 study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. Participants of the study took 300 mg of curcumin twice per day for 12 weeks, while those in the control group did not take any supplements. 

After the study period was finished, researchers measured levels of collagen and elastin to examine the effectiveness of the supplement. Both groups experienced significant improvements in skin elasticity and quality after using the supplement.

 6) Reduces pain

 Turmeric can relieve headaches and migraines. According to an article published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, curcumin blocks inflammatory chemicals called prostaglandins, which cause headaches. 

Another study published in the International Journal of Molecular Medicine found that consuming turmeric prevented the release of these chemicals in people who suffer from migraine.
